Henk Van Hemmen, 77, of Tinton Falls, passed away on March 3, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Henk was born in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. In 1976 he immigrated with his wife, Trudy, and their children to the United States where they settled in Shrewsbury, NJ. Henk and his wife moved to Seabrook Village in 2008. He was a graduate of the Marine Academy in Rotterdam, Netherlands. He was a partner in the marine consulting firm of Martin, Ottaway, Van Hemmen & Dolan Inc. of Red Bank since 1980. In 2003 he was inducted into the International Maritime Hall of Fame. He retired in 2009.
He is the son of Hendrik Fokko Van Hemmen and Grietje Mulder Van Hemmen. He will be missed by his wife of 55 years, his brother, Ed of Barcelona, Spain, his daughter, Annemarie, his sons, Rik and Pim, his daughters-in-law Anne and Jeanne-Marie, and his five grandchildren: Jake, Hannah, Abby, Helena and Kees.
