Charles T. Woodward, 79, of Long Branch, passed away on Wednesday, June 12th 2019 at Monmouth Medical Center. Charlie was born in Long Branch to Charles T. and Christine F. Woodward and mainly grew up in Leonardo, NJ before returning to Long Branch for retirement in 2014. In between, he had held residences in New Hampshire and Pennsylvania. He had fond memories of living in Keansburg, NJ where he enjoyed socializing at community gatherings. Charlie was a friendly cat-lover who never stopped bringing happiness and compassion to those who knew him. He was a house painter by trade, but he also loved to painting lovely pictures of landscapes and playing the harmonica in his leisure time. Charlie was also very spiritual and served as Baptist minister in his middle years and enjoyed reading and collecting Bibles. A perfect day for Charlie would be going out for breakfast at a local diner, fishing, playing ball with his cat, snacking on potato chips, and watching his favorite televised ministers followed by light comedies like "The Big Bang Theory". Charlie was predeceased by his beloved parents, three sisters, three brothers, and his dear daughter, Nancy Booth. He is survived by his wife Florence Woodward; his daughter Diana Crowell and her husband William; his son Charles Woodward and his wife Belinda; three grandchildren: Crystal and her husband Pete, Charles, and Dominic; five great-grandchildren; three step-children Anthony, Tinamarie, and Angelo Panzera; his brother Jonathan Woodward; his companion Helen Conover; his cat Buddy; and many friends. He was truly well liked and will be easily missed and remembered with warm thoughts by everyone who met him. Charlie’s visitation will be held Monday, June 17 from 5-9 PM with a memorial service provided by Pastor Bill Bendick at 7:30 PM at Bongarzone Funeral Home, 2400 Shafto Road in Tinton Falls. Burial service will take place at Noon on Tuesday, June 18 at Monmouth Memorial Park in Tinton Falls. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made for those who wish to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
