Doris Carey

Doris Carey, 86, of Tinton Falls, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation in Shrewsbury. She was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Theresa and Vincent Lombardo. During World War II she worked for RCA and Sperry Gyroscope Corp. of Long Island. After going back to school, she changed careers and worked as Credit Manager for Irving Trust Co. in Manhattan for 21 years before her retirement in 1986. Upon retirement she and her husband moved to Bricktown, where she was very active with the Church of the Epiphany in Brick and co-founded the Angels of Epiphany, a volunteer group supporting church activities. Upon the death of her husband in 1998 she moved to Toms River and then to Tinton Falls, residing at the Atria Senior Living Center where she was proud to be an Atria Ambassador. She was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph and her sister Vivian Nolan. She is survived by her son Dennis Wharton and his wife Charlotte of Long Valley, NJ, a step-daughter Madeline Cashin and her husband Walter of Leonardo, NJ and a step-son Thomas Carey and his wife Marlene of Queens, NY. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and her dear friend, Regina Hanna. A Memorial Mass and celebration of her life will be held on Monday, June 7 at 11:00 am from the Church of St. Anselm, Tinton Falls. Burial of Ashes will follow at Brigadier Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
