John Robert (Bob) Haney

June 25, 1928 - December 3, 2014

John Robert (Bob) Haney, 86, of West Long Branch, NJ, passed away peacefully on December 3rd with his family by his side. Bob was born June 25, 1928 in Pittsburgh, PA to John and Mary (Walters) Haney. He grew up in Aliquippa, PA and continued to follow the “Quips” football team until the final days of his life. After graduation from High School, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and following his discharge from service, he attended and graduated from Duquesne University with a Bachelors degree in Business. In 1950 Bob married his high school sweetheart, Rheyma (Rae) Baldwin. Bob and Rae were married for 42 years, enjoying their time together raising their children, Rob, Carla, and Nancy in Berkeley Heights, NJ and Arrowhead Lake, PA. Bob and Rae also resided in Canadensis, PA where they opened an antique shop. In 2005 Bob moved back to New Jersey to be closer to his family. Bob was a salesman for Anchor Hocking Glass for 30 years. Bob’s love for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, Notre Dame football, and the Zuma’s, was surpassed only by his love for his family. Bob is survived by a son J. Robert Haney, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Frenchtown, NJ; daughters, Carla Haney of St. John’s, FL; and Nancy Haney Tighe and her husband Gerry (Bob’s best friend) of West Long Branch, NJ; and grandchildren, Gerald Robert Tighe, Jr., J. Robert Haney, III, Kyle Derek Tighe, Melissa Lorraine Haney, Rachel Anne Tighe, and John Richard Isakson, Jr. He was predeceased by his parents John and Mary and his wife Rheyma in 1993. A private celebration of his life will be held in Pittsburgh and Maine as he requested.
