Margaret "Marnie" Cannavo

April 20, 1935 - March 8, 2020

***Marnie's memorial service has been postponed. A new memorial service will be announced at a later date.*** Marnie Cannavo, age 84, of Tinton Falls, New Jersey passed away on March 8, 2020. Marnie was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1935 and was the daughter of the late Margaret Branin and Raymond James. Marnie graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School and attended Saint Michael’s Nursing School in Newark. She was an operating room nurse at Monmouth Medical Center until she met her husband of 50 years, Joe Cannavo, who pre-deceased her in 2011. Marnie and Joe were happiest when owning the dance floor, traveling and vacationing with their three children. Marnie was a devoted wife and mother to her three children, whom she raised in Succasunna, NJ and an amazing friend to her Forest Drive family. Marnie was very much involved in her community, and when not volunteering with Girl Scouts, Band Parents or St. Therese’s Church as a lector, she enjoyed part of many organizations and held various leadership roles. These included: Questors, Rosary Society, Seniors, Bowling, Sewing and Card Groups. Marnie was an avid reader and crossword enthusiast. Marnie enjoyed quilting, embroidery, knitting and sewing. She enjoyed gifting creations of these hobbies that will be cherished by her family and friends, forever. Marnie is survived by her two daughters and son, Ann Whalen and her husband Ken, Joe Cannavo and his wife Shereen, Mary Rivera and her husband Randy. Marnie loved and enjoyed family events that included her 8 grandchildren; Chris, Megan, Caty, Andrew, Alex, Anna, D.J. and April. She delighted in acquainting them with the theater, attending their school events, holidays, graduations and more. Marnie was also survived by her dear brothers, Joseph & Gary Branin. Saturday's service at Seabrook Village has been postponed due to health concerns. A memorial service in Marnie's honor will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Marnie was in the care of Homeside Hospice over the last 5 months. Donations to their Butterfly Wishes program which enhances the lives of individuals with a terminal illness are appreciated.
