Margaret G Rasmussen 95 A long time Castleton Corners resident, Margaret Rasmussen, a loving wife, mother grand and great grandmother died at the home of her daughter, Joanne Beam. Born Margaret G Troost in Manhattan, she moved to Staten Island as a young child where she lived until moving to Brick, NJ in 1975. Her husband, Eugene V Rasmussen, died in 1982. As a young woman she held many, varied jobs such as controller at the Port of Embarkation during WWII, one of the first School Crossing Guards on SI and sale positions in J C Penneys. She retired from the College of Staten Island 1979 after nine years working in the Business Office. While on SI she was active in the March of Dimes, the Blue Birds, and the Eastern Star, the woman’s auxiliary of the Masons. In NJ she was a member of the Brick Elks and joined a dance group that performed Hawaiian dances for senior citizens. A woman of boundless joy, she was happiest around her family, enjoying dancing and parties. All who knew her will remember her best for her smile. She is survived by her daughters Margaret Struthers, Joanne Beam, Karen Barbara, a son Eugene V Rasmussen, six grandchildren and eleven great- grandchildren.
