Paul James Lamprinakos, 86, of Tinton Falls, passed away peacefully on Friday Jan 31, 2014 at his residence with his family by his side. Paul was born and raised in Asheville, NC. The son of a Greek immigrant, he lived there before joining the Navy at the age of 16. He served in the Philippines during World War II for 3 years. He then returned home after the war and attended NC State University where he completed his studies and achieved his degree in engineering under the GI bill. Paul married his childhood sweetheart Martha and lived in Asheville, NC working in the textile industry, where he was rapidly promoted and was later transferred to New York City. He lived in Wayne, NJ and commuted into NYC for nearly 30 years as the Chief Officer for BASF Corporation which was located on two floors of the Empire State building. Even after his retirement, his Corporation sought him out again and he returned to aid them in a transition period that lasted a least two full years. Paul was an athletic, vigorous man, full of life. He excelled in golf winning many tournaments with his friends and colleagues often accompanied by his sons, John and James. He also enjoyed hunting and tennis with them. Paul was also member of the Greek Church and had a strong faith. Paul was meticulous and thorough, always finishing whatever he started. He will be remembered for his extroverted personality, always engaging people in conversation with his wit and many stories. On a more serious note, he will also be remembered for his unwavering integrity, honesty, charity, always helping those that he could. He is survived by his loving wife Martha Bobotes Lamprinakos, two sons; Dr. James Lamprinakos and wife Linda, John Lamprinakos and wife Patricia, three grandchildren; Nicole, Paul and Garren, a brother, George Lamprinakos , a sister Tina Caras and several nephews. A private funeral service will be held at St. George Greek Orthodox Church followed by an interment in Greenlawn Memorial Garden, Spartanburg, SC. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St George Greek Orthodox Church, 1033 West Park Avenue, Ocean, NJ 07712 or to a charity of your choice.
