Salvador “Sal” Galván of Tinton Falls, NJ, passed away while surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 1, 2021; he was 68 years old. Sal grew up in a large family in Michoacán, Mexico. As a teenager he came to the United States to make a better life for himself. In 1988, he married the love of his life, his “media naranja”, Madonna Hurley and together they raised their son Salvador. Sal started his career in the restaurant business at the bottom washing dishes and eventually worked his way up the ladder to becoming a chef. He has fed his community over the last 40 years from many kitchens in Monmouth County and for the past 14 years, he’s been a chef at Eagle Oaks Country Club. He worked hard and in 2017 he proudly became a United States Citizen. Sal loved playing golf and was very proud of his hole-in-one on a PGA course, Disney’s Palm. Sal loved traveling and he especially enjoyed traveling with his family to experience the sights and tastes of London, Paris, Amsterdam, Munich, and Rome. He was an avid futbol (soccer) fan. Sal is predeceased by his father Rosendo, his mother Carmen, his brother Ignacio, and his sister Juana. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Madonna; his son Salvador and his wife Alexa; and his brothers Heliodoro (Guadalupe), Luis (Maria), Noe, Alfredo (Guadalupe), and Enrique. He also leaves behind his best friend and loving companion: Thorin, a black labrador retriever. Sal's visitation will be held 4-8 PM on Monday December 6 at Bongarzone Funeral Home, Tinton Falls, NJ. Funeral mass will be offered at 11:30 AM on Tuesday December 7 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel RC Church, Asbury Park, NJ. Interment will follow at Saint Anne's Cemetery, Wall, NJ.
