Shampa Raychaudhuri
February 14, 1955 - March 10, 2020
Shampa Raychaudhuri, 65, of Middletown, NJ died Tuesday, March 10, 2020 after defying cancer for five years. Born and raised in Calcutta, India, the only child of Lila and SatyendraNath Sen, she got married and moved to Philadelphia in 1974. She also lived in Amherst, MA and Atlantic Highlands, NJ, before finally moving to Middletown in 1984. Shampa’s passions in life were great and varied. She liked attending parties, and loved hosting them even more. She delighted in her job at Collier Youth Services. She enjoyed traveling, and sat on museum benches all over the world as her husband and kids roamed the galleries appreciating the artwork, and was once confused for a wax statue at Madame Tussaud’s in London. She was a big believer in betterment through education, and returned to college in her 50s to complete her degree. Above all else, she loved her friends and family. Shampa is survived by husband, Kamal Raychaudhuri; daughter, Koeli Raychaudhuri; son and daughter-in-law, Samudra and Rohini Raychaudhuri; and granddaughter, Radhika Raychaudhuri. In lieu of flowers, we request donations be made to the cancer society of your choice, particularly if it is geared towards wild-type GISTs, which are rare tumors not attracting enough funding for research. Shampa's viewing will be 9-10:30 AM on March 16, 2020 at Bongarzone Funeral Home, 2400 Shafto Road, Tinton Falls, NJ 07712.
