Claude M. Campbell, 89, of Tinton Falls, passed away on February 18, 2020. Claude was born in New York but grew up in Jamaica until the age of 16. He was very proud to attend the Infamous Calibar High School there. After losing both his parents by age 15, he was brought back to New York where he worked for a year at Seabrook Farms in NJ. It was there that he met many who would become lifelong friends. He then went back to NYC where he worked downtown as a delivery person in the garment district, before starting his Navy Civilian career at the Brooklyn Navy Shipyard. He also taught Electronics in Manhattan during that time. When the Shipyard closed he transferred to NJ where He worked as a Calibrations Engineer Supervisor at Earle Naval Weapons Station, completing 40 years of Service for the Navy. In his retirement he worked part time for Garfield Courier Services in Neptune. He also contributed in a huge way to his community, volunteering for the Boy Scouts of America for 40 years. He was active in his municipality, working on the Tinton Falls Planning and Zoning boards, where he was once recognized as Planner of the Year for NJ. He also served many years as the Webmaster of Tinton Falls where he could be seen taking pics at all the major town events. He won awards everywhere he worked and volunteered, yet never wanted the acknowledgement for his outstanding achievements. Claude was predeceased by his son, Claude Rodney Campbell. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Cynthia Campbell; daughter Linda Campbell Stevenson (the late Ronald); son Michael Campbell (Melissa); grandchildren Sonia Waters, Tania Adams, Ronald Stevenson IV, Michael Campbell Jr, Christian Campbell, Sarah Campbell, Caroline Ibarra, and Enrique Santos. His Great-grandchildren Joshua Waters Jr, Jonathan Waters, Soleil Waters, and Aiyanna Adams. He also left behind many friends who are considered family. He will be missed more than words can express.🙏� Claude’s memorial visitation will be held 1-3 PM with a service to begin at 2:30 PM on Saturday, February 22 at Bongarzone Funeral Home, 2400 Shafto Rd, Tinton Falls, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Parker Clinic (parkerfamilyhealthcenter.org) 211 Shrewsbury Ave, Red Bank, NJ 07701.
