Doris A. Palermo

September 28, 1932 - January 2, 2018

Doris A. Palermo, 85, of Eatontown, passed away Tuesday, January 2, after a brief illness. A native of Asbury Park, Doris graduated from Asbury Park High School in 1950 and had resided in Eatontown since 1964. She was a communicant of St. Dorothea’s Roman Catholic Church, and was active in its Women’s Guild. Doris worked for Macy’s department store for twenty-five years, retiring in 1997. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Palermo, in 1992, by her sister, Vivian Jones, and two brothers, Robert Sarambo and Joseph Sarambo. Surviving are a sister, Hazel Cramer, Darien, Illinois; a son, Michael Palermo, and his wife Akemi, Eatontown; a daughter, Lisa Palermo, West Belmar; a daughter, Carol Palermo, and her husband Joseph Dellinger, Red Bank: and two grandsons, Luke Takuya Palermo and Nicolas Makoto Palermo, both of Eatontown, as well as many nieces and nephews. Doris will be remembered as a loving and generous mother and grandmother who enjoyed classic movies, crossword puzzles, and baking Italian cheesecakes. Visitation will be held at Bongarzone Funeral Home, 2400 Shafto Road, Tinton Falls, Friday, January 5, from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Dorothea’s on Saturday, January 6, at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport.
