January 27, 1930 - February 15, 2021
HELEN VERONICA NAGLE (née Leahy), passed away 15 February 2021, shortly after her 91st birthday, following lingering complications from a fall. Born in Manhattan on 27 January 1930, she grew up in Long Island City, Queens, NY. She married a Queens boy, Eugene Michael Nagle on 3 May 1951 in Manhattan. A few years later, they left New York City and relocated to Monmouth County to raise their four children, living in both Red Bank and Middletown, NJ. Once settled in suburbia, Helen no longer worked outside the home as family life kept her occupied and busy. However, once her children were older, she returned to work part-time in the back stockroom of the local Sears. As she welcomed each new grandchild into the fold, she had a knack of making each feel special and loved. The returned feeling was mutual. Helen loved the beach, spending her summers sitting with friends and family on the beaches of Sea Bright, NJ. Helen enjoyed good food, especially served with a glass of wine (with ice cubes!) As an avid reader, she loved playing word games like Scrabble and doing the daily New York Times crossword puzzle. She could easily engage in conversation with perfect strangers and had many good friends throughout her life. She is survived by her loving children: Michael Nagle (Kim Gulino) from Rockport, MA, Jane Hoover from Gaithersburg, MD, Thomas Nagle (Monica Beals) from Dallas, TX, and Robert Nagle (Alice Gorman) from Oakhurst, NJ. She also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren: Meghan (husband Jason Scarborough, and great grandsons Liam and Owen), as well as Sean, Matt, Kyle, Brett, and Abby. Helen was predeceased by her husband Eugene, sister Dorothy Klippel, brother William Leahy Jr., and her parents, William Leahy Sr. and Jane Leahy (née Mullaney), both of NYC. Helen will be cremated in a private ceremony. In addition, the Nagle family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to her caregivers at the Seabrook Senior Living Community in Tinton Falls, NJ during her final days.
