Suzanne Mahr

November 11, 1931 - April 29, 2020

Suzanne Mahr (nee Miles), 88, of Seabrook Village Tinton Falls, passed away on Wednesday April 29, 2020 at home. She was a third generation Staten Islander who moved to Columbus, NJ in 1986 and then to Seabrook Village in Tinton Falls, NJ in 2017. Suzanne graduated from Curtis High School on Staten Island and was a member of the alumni association. Before starting her primary job of motherhood, she worked for NY Telephone Co. and Richmond County Savings Bank. But she loved being a full time Mom to her four devoted children. She was active in the Twins Mother’s Club, Annadale Garden Club, Girl Scouts, a member of the Great Kills Swim Club and a volunteer at Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly, NJ. Sue enjoyed the outdoors, taking long walks, traveling, especially to her second home on Cape Cod which she did for 64 years. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church on Staten Island, NY and Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Burlington, NJ. She enjoyed and was an excellent ice skater and taught her children at “Jack’s Pond” to be excellent skaters also. Suzanne enjoyed life, especially being with her family and friends. She was just a beautiful person. “I was very lucky to have Sue and Very happily married for 66 years. She was my partner, best friend, mother of our children and the love of my life. I will miss her" Says her loving husband, George. “Anyone who met our Mom would never forget her. She was always very positive, loved life and loved people. She always had a smile on her face, and she had many, many friends who loved her dearly. She was the sweetest and most beautiful loving mother and person, inside and out. She always made everyone feel good and everyone always wanted to be around our Mom. She will now be with our dearly beloved brother Gary, a Navy Veteran who we all adored, who passed away in 1989” Says her loving daughters Laurie, Nancy and Debbie. She is predeceased by her son Gary Mahr and her brother Joseph Janin Miles. She is survived by her husband of 66 years George W. Mahr Jr., three daughters; Nancy DeRemer and her husband Reed of Proctor, VT; Laurie Mahr of Staten Island, NY; Debra Mahr of Staten Island, NY, Four Grandchildren; Kyle Cocchi, Alyssa Ritterstein, Bethany Ozorak , Zachary DeRemer and one Great-Grandchild William Cocchi. She is also survived by her sister Marian Mohlenhoff. Suzanne will be laid to rest at 11 AM on Friday May 14, 2021 at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran's Cemetery in Wrightstown. If attending, please meet at the cemetery before 11. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association in her memory would be appreciated.
