Angela Mack

Angela Mack (nee Laino), passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 13, 2026 surrounded by her loving family after a miraculous 2-year battle with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. Angela was known to everyone around her as a funny, sweet, loving and devotedly loyal wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, and friend. Angela was born June 7, 1955 in Hoboken, NJ, and married childhood sweetheart John at St. Ann’s Church in Hoboken on June 4, 1978. Angela and John spent their early married life in North Bergen before having their son, Shawn, and relocating to Tinton Falls in 1990, where they made lifelong friends in the neighbors surrounding them in the newly built Park Place II development. Angela was also surrounded by in-laws who loved her, as they had all been friends since their school days as well. Angela was incredibly kind, non-judgmental, and gave everyone the benefit of the doubt. She was a trusted friend and confidante for friends, family, and anyone who looked like they needed someone to listen. While she was generally somewhat shy and soft-spoken at first, once she knew you, the floodgates opened, and her true, goofy nature came surging forward. She made silly videos, sang songs, dressed up as silly characters for all of her nieces and nephews, and was particularly fond of chasing the firetrucks Santa rode on during the holiday season. She lived to welcome everyone into her home, and into her inner circle, and to lighten any room by making everyone laugh with her antics. She was known to the family as “Crazy Aunt Angela,” a title she took seriously and wore as a point of pride. She was a supportive wife to her husband John, a man with a very public-facing career despite her shyness, and adored and supported every endeavor of her talented son, bragging about him to anyone who would listen. She loved her daughter-in-law as her own, often dropping the, “in-law” during introductions. She was a life-long friend to her sisters-in-law, whom she had known since childhood, and made everyone around her feel at ease. Even before her cancer journey, she was a devout Catholic, with an intense devotion specifically to St. Ann, praying novenas to her as often as possible as well as her daily rosary. She attended mass as often as possible until she could no longer, but always asked for and worried over the priests and brothers of the Oratory, who provided her comfort and support throughout this process. She brightened every room she entered, loved everyone fiercely, and will be missed desperately by all who knew and loved her. Angela was predeceased by her parents, Helen and Thomas Laino, her loving brother-in-law Earl Newell, and her sister Marie Newell. She is survived by the love of her life since the age of 14, John Mack, her son, Shawn Mack (Eileen), her brother Nicholas Laino (Patricia), her stepbrother Earl Newell, Jr. (Dianne), as well as multitudes of cousins, in-laws, and close friends who adored her endlessly. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026 from 4pm-7pm at Bongarzone Funeral Home-2400 Shafto Road in Tinton Falls, NJ. A solemn funeral mass will be offered at 11am on Friday, July 17, 2026 at The Oratory Church of St. Anthony of Padua, located at 27 Oratory Way in Red Bank, NJ with interment immediately following at Woodbine Cemetery and Mausoleum at 14 Maple Avenue, Oceanport, NJ.
