Monica M. Miele

Monica (Mahon) Miele passed away at her home on March 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Monica grew up in Allenhurst, New Jersey, and later settled in Sea Girt, where she raised her family and built a life centered on love, dedication, and community. She found her true calling in teaching, a profession that reflected her patience, compassion, and unwavering belief in others. Monica devoted over 35 years to the Neptune and Asbury Park school districts, where she touched countless lives and inspired generations of students. Even after retiring, Monica’s passion for education never faded. She continued her work through the Wilson Reading Program, helping children and adults learn to read and gain confidence in themselves. Her impact as an educator extended far beyond the classroom, leaving a lasting legacy in the hearts of those she taught. In recent years, Monica made her home in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, where she embraced the peace and beauty of the beach—her favorite place to be. There, she spent cherished time with her family, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Monica was predeceased by her parents, William and Mary Mahon of Ocean, New Jersey. She is survived by her high school sweetheart and devoted husband of 60 years, Andrew Miele Sr. of Sea Girt, New Jersey; her beloved children, Andrew Miele Jr. (Ashley) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Heather Chapman of Raleigh, North Carolina; Tara Mullis (Dillon) of Pawleys Island, South Carolina; Laura Miele currently living internationally; and Kevin Miele (Katrina) of Mullica Hill, New Jersey. She also leaves behind her eight (soon to be nine) cherished grandchildren, as well as her siblings: William Mahon (Linda), Robert Mahon (Andrea), Brian Mahon (Liz), and Sheila Reynolds (John). Monica will be remembered for her kindness, her dedication to her family and students, and the quiet strength with which she lived her life. Her love, guidance, and legacy will continue to live on in all who knew her.
